Winter Tour 2011!

So far we kind of ♥ New York. Parking has taken sight-seeing out of the question, a nasty cold has settled itself in my lungs for the winter season, and toll booths have been screaming "Ba Humbug!" and eyeing our wallets. But that has yet to take our fun away. Brooklyn nightlife has given us a refreshing energy, and reuniting with our friends from Sequoyah has helped to make this tour feel a little more like home.

For those who attended the CD Release in Dayton, we thank you. Last year's Drawing Maps release show appropriately had an electrified crowd and left our hands with blisters. This year's release was different; the room seemed to understand that our sound was changing. The feeling was calmer and more intimate. Playing "Only One" felt like playing in a small jazz club. Our friends and families seemed to dig it. But of course we needed to end the show with a bang; we covered the new Black Keys single, "Lonely Boy," and danced away.

With 4 hours of sleep, we headed out of our lovely hometown of Kettering early Sunday morning. David's bladder was particularly small that day, but we made it to our first destination: Doylestown, PA.  Ever heard of it? Me neither! Although the small crowd had us contemplating even setting up to play, Doylestown proved that they love good music, and were anxious to have us back again.

I am currently writing in one of Brooklyn's best coffee shops: Roots Cafe. We play a little acoustic show in about 5 minutes in attempt to earn some gas money. Shortly after we finish, it's on to Hank's Saloon. That's right, two shows in one night! Tomorrow we hit the road to Asbury Park, New Jersey, and eventually head to the Carolinas. We will miss the New York scene dearly. We hope to come back soon, but we are anxious to lose the winter coats.

Until next time friends!

Much love,
Nick (and the gang)
